Latino Graduation 2016
The Latino(a) Graduation Committee 2016, the Student Organization of Latinos, Columbia University Office of Multicultural Affairs, and the Latino Alumni Association of Columbia University put together Latino Graduation annually. Latino(a) Graduation has a long standing history with the university and is a celebration of the accomplishments of undergraduate Latinos. This Rite of Passage ceremony provides an intimate setting for family, friends, alumni, faculty, staff, and students to recognize the accomplishments of the graduates while embracing their new important roles as Columbia and Barnard alumni.
One of the momentous portions of the program is receiving commemorative stoles. The stole is important to the Latino graduating class because this showcases our culture, pride, and celebration of Latinidad at our greater university commencement. It also serves as a symbol of our appreciation towards the community that helped us in our journey towards graduation. These stoles represent our individual triumph and the accomplishments of a community of people, and participating students will wear these stoles at the various commencement ceremonies that will take place in May.
We would like to formally extend an opportunity to LAACU Alumni to sponsor the stoles. A donation of $25 would sponsor one individual stole, but any contribution helps! Nonetheless, we look forward to seeing you at the Latino Graduation on May 17th at 8:30pm in Roone Arledge Auditorium and we thank you in advance for your contribution.
