New Group: join CFLAN

Join members of LAACU at Amity Hall on Wednesday, August 30th from 5:30-8:00pm to kickoff the formation of The Columbia First-Generation and Low-Income Alumni Network. For more information and to RSVP please click here.

Many alumni who identified as low-income or were the first in their families to complete college in the US often faced daunting challenges navigating the college system while they were in school. However, the new worlds they enter after graduation present another set of struggles they must address without the guidance of family. In order to create a network  for those who can identify with this experience, we are proud to announce that we are in the process of forming a new Columbia Alumni Association (CAA) Shared Interest Group (SIG), called the Columbia First-Generation and Low-Income Alumni Network (CFLAN).The mission of this network is to create a strong, cross-generational community of Columbia alumni who come from a low-income background and/or were the first member of their family to earn a college degree in the United States and provide support to one another while helping ensure the success of Columbia alumni and students for generations to come.

To celebrate the launch of CFLAN, we will be having a happy hour, for alumni who are interested in or identify with CFLAN's mission,  on Wednesday, August 30th at Amity Hall (Amsterdam between 108th and 109th) from 5:30-8:00pm and we would love to see you there. Please visit our Facebook page for more information and to RSVP for the event.
